FSBK-French Superbike Championships
Created in 1981 by the President of the C.C.R. of the F.F.M. at the time, Benjamin SAVOYE, in order to bring together the French Inters and National Championships which had previously been run separately, the French Superbike Championship (formerly the French Open Speed Championship) saw the passage, at one time or another, all of the French pilots who were destined for the top level.
Note that the first years of the Championship saw the participation of all the French Grand Prix drivers who were very numerous at the time, some starting grids did not have much to envy to the Grands Prix grids.
When it was created, this Championship included 4 categories (125 cc, 250 cc, 500 cc and Side-Cars). Since then, many developments have taken place and only the 125 cc and Side-Cars categories still survive. The 250 cc and 500 cc disappeared, on the other hand we saw the arrival of several new classes, such as Supersport or Superbike.
