Northern Talent Cup
Riders aged between 14 and 17 compete across central and northern Europe, alongside MotoGP™, WorldSBK and IDM. It’s a one-make series of teams and riders and uses the incredibly successful European Talent Cup as a blueprint.
Each Moto4 Northern Cup round comprises two races, with the points system mirroring that of MotoGP, and riders compete on the Honda NSF250R racing Pirelli tyres.
As part of the Road to MotoGP™, there is a place in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup the following season up for grabs for the Moto4 Northern Cup rider(s) deemed to have shown the most impressive progress and/or potential, and at least two Moto4 Northern Cup alumni take part in the Rookies Cup selection event on the Road to MotoGP.
A number of riders have already moved up from the Moto4 Northern Cup to the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, with more taking the next step each year.
THE SERIES
For more than two decades, MotoGP has invested in opening the doors to motorcycle racing, creating the Road to MotoGP. Comprising initiatives all over the world providing millions of young riders the opportunity to excel, the Road to MotoGP is unrivalled in motorsport – opening doors, increasing access and racing towards global equality.
The Northern Talent Cup is intended to give riders from northern and central European countries a new path on the Road to MotoGP, designed as the perfect stepping stone into the FIM MotoJunior™ World Championship and/or Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. The Moto4 Northern Cup is designed to create close competition in a cost-effective manner, including the calendar. Riders of all nationalities can apply, but the Cup is aimed at riders from northern and central Europe.
The Moto4 Northern Cup is run by MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports as part of our world-leading Road to MotoGP initiative.
