PSSA-Prototype Sprint Series
PSSA hosts prototype race cars in a sprint race format at some of the most iconic road courses in America. The series features at least five on-track sessions during each event, with time split between practice, qualifying and races.
Sanctioned by Parella Motorsports Holdings, entrants in Category I will need a current SVRA super license or equivalent to participate, while those competing in Categories II, III or IV require an SVRA Competition License or equivalent.
Spectators attending PSSA events can expect an affordable event, jam-packed with racing action and family fun. Joining a variety of other motorsport series at SpeedTour events, including groups like Trans Am, SVRA, International GT, Formula Regional Americas Championship, Formula 4 United States Championship and the Ligier Junior Formula Championship—there is truly something for everyone. With an “open paddock” policy that allows all ticketholders into the paddock for no additional fee, fans at SpeedTour events are allowed a level of access to both cars and drivers that is not available in most other forms of motorsport.
The Prototype Sprint Series Association presented by Hankook (PSSA) was founded by Parella Motorsports Holdings (PMH) in 2023 to host prototype race cars in a sprint race format at some of the most iconic road courses in America.
With events planned coast to coast, racers will be able to contend for the PSSA East or PSSA West championship, or take on everyone and race across the country. Nearly 30 chassis are eligible for competition, and drivers must hold either an SVRA Competition License or SVRA Super License (or equivalent), depending on which class they compete in. Weekends feature at least five on-track sessions, including two races, and Hankook racing tires are required for all on-track activity.
During an immensely popular inaugural season in 2023, PSSA attracted competitors from four different countries and 13 states across the USA. In 2024, the series increased from eight to 12 events, expanding to include PSSA East and PSSA West championship titles, and awarding each champion a $10,000 prize in addition to several product awards. A National champion is also crowned during the season finale at Circuit of The Americas, with the winner being awarded a limited-edition Bell Racing gold helmet.
Rules
PSSA will be open to three different categories of cars. Category I will include Ligier LMP3, Radical RX (RXC, SR10 and SR8) and Revolution 500SC. Category II will include Radical SR3 1500 (R5) and Revolution 427. Category III will include Radical SR3 1340 (R3).
Licensing
A current SVRA Super License or equivalent is required to compete in the Category 1 class of PSSA. Applicants must have been previously licensed with an organization recognized by PMH, and have a minimum of three (3) years of racing experience in cars of similar performance level as those in the Super License category. Verification of such licensing, types of race cars driven, as well as race results must be submitted to the National License Director, along with the New License Application. Category 2 and Category 3 competitors are required to hold a SVRA Competition License or a recognized competition license from another club.
