IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge

The IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge is a multi-class, single-driver sprint racing series that debuted in 2023. The lead P3 class features entry level, closed cockpit prototype race cars. The two production-based classes, GTDX and GSX, utilize race cars built to international GT3 and GT4 technical regulations.

Each of the six event weekends on the 2025 VP Racing SportsCar Challenge schedule will include a pair of 45-minute sprint races following two 15-minute qualifying sessions, one for P3 and one combined for GTDX and GSX. Drivers must be rated either Bronze or Silver on the FIA Driver Categorization List.

P3 Le Mans Prototype P3

The Le Mans Prototype 3 (P3) is an entry level closed cockpit car developed by four approved constructors. In addition to the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, LMP3 cars are also eligible to compete in additional domestic series such as Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) and other international series such as the European Le Mans Series (ELMS).

GTDX Grand Touring Daytona X

The Grand Touring Daytona X (GTDX), new for 2025, uses race cars built to FIA GT3 technical regulations. Engines are generally tuned to produce around 500 horsepower, with top speeds in excess of 170 miles per hour. The class uses a baseline Balance of Performance (BoP) for the 2025 GTDX season established from IMSA’s 2024 GTD category data and performance. GTDX cars will use a variant of the 2024 GTD technical regulations and electronics package and will not use torque sensors. Success Ballast will be applied to top-finishing individual race cars following each event in this class only. Manufacturers competing in this class in 2025 include BMW, Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.

GSX Grand Sport X

The Grand Sport X (GSX) class uses production-based race cars internationally homologated under SRO GT4 regulations. Engines are tuned to produce between 400 and 450 horsepower and the cars are capable of top speeds in excess of 160 miles per hour. Competition is equalized by adjustments to fuel-tank capacities, ride height, power and weight. Manufacturers competing in 2025 include Aston Martin, BMW, Ford, Porsche and Toyota.
